Seems too cheap to be a licenced copy...
Besides vector based software that is usually available from the vendor,
you can also buy one that is raster based. This has the advantage of
using your own scanned maps and the disadvantage of not understanding
all features of the (especially higher level) GPS devices.
Here is a listing of some well known applications:
* MapSource - http://www.garmin.de/MapSource.php (for Garmin GPS devices)
* OziExlorer - http://www.oziexplorer.com (Raster based)
* TouraTech QV - http://www.ttqv.com (Raster based)
* Geogrid Viewer - (Raster based) this software is used by different
official departments to distribute high resolution digital maps
including elevation information. Maps are available at least for Austria
( http://www.bev.gv.at ), Germany as TOP200, TOP50 and TOP25 (
http://www.ifag.de ) and Switzerland
* Microsoft Autoroute (similar to MapPoint)
* You can also Google Earth Plus with your GPS device but it should be
considered merely as a nice "toy" for display.
Personally, i use MapSource for route planning and AMAP3D (Geogrid
Viewer) as well as OziExplorer for detailed location information.
Best regards
Bernhard
