Thread:
Hi folks!
I've been using my combo of D1 and the 8mm Peleng for quite a while
now. I recently "inherited" a D100 (a partner of mine got a new D2x).
The fact that the D100 can't meter the Peleng and the hint of an
upcoming, rather large project got me thinking of getting a better
lens for my pano shooting.
I really like the Peleng for it's excellent bang-for-the-buck but am
not quite satisfied with it's optical qualities. Especially when
opened up the picture isn't all that sharp and the lens
flare/reflections inside the lens aren't nice either.
So what I need is a nice fisheye lens that will work on my Nikon
bodies and is better than the Peleng. So here's what I thought of so far:
Nikon 16/2.8 Has anybody tried that one?
Nikon 8/2.8 Well, that'be nice. Not affordable though.
Nikon 10.5/2.8 I think it's the best choice for me.
Sigma 8/4 Runner up behind the above. Don't like what I heard
about CA on this lens though.
Zenitar 16/2.8 Well, is it really better than my Peleng? Ain't sure....
So what do you guys think? Which is best? Any other lenses I haven't listed?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers, Dave
