Ok, Luka _now_ i am _really_ convinced! ;-)

I have answered a similar question in the "HDR-Photo" Lsit, so i'll boldly copy parts of my answer here:
HDR stitching is a very time consuming process. Especially as i don't
want to abstain from using enblend for blending (it is the best way to
circumvent cumbersome light falloff corrections). For my standard size of 8000x4000, the stitching process needs about 30 minutes, sometimes longer
(depending on the current "fitness" of Windows...XP has a very poor
memory management).
...So what i do is:
- batch HDR creation and tonemapping the sector images.
- If tonemapping went OK, i proceed with LDR stitching.
- If images differ too much (after tone mapping), i have to switch to HDR stitching and tone map the whole panorama afterwards.
Control point creation is done with PTGui (using the LDR images),
stitching with Hugin (LDR where possible, otherwise HDR).
AFAIK, Hugin is still the only (useable) solution to stitch HDR
(full-frame) fisheye images (via Nona).
It is possible to exclusively work with Hugin - it maps down your HDRs
while loading, so you are able to "see something" and all CP helpers
also work. It's just that i'm soo much used to the easy CP assistant of
PTGui :-)
Autopano Pro is also capable of HDR panorama creation. Unfortunately -
to my knowledge - it still lacks fisheye support.
Best regards
Bernhard
