Yes, I agree completely. This is the future of vr photography - not
tonemapping, but something like spi-V's ADR. I still have never tried ADR
because it just seems like such a pain - that intermediate "exposure map"
which shouldn't really be necessary :-?
I think with all the "auto exposure" algorithms out there (ok, none are
perfect, but many are very smart) it should be enough to have 2 aligned
images with different exposures, to have an image that behaves kind of like
our own eyes......
is there any example besides ptviewer 3 which uses an hdr-type image, or 2
images only?

Great work!
It would be interesting to see the panorama in HDR format (using
PTViewer3.1.2), without applying the tonemapping, to be able to change
the exposure value. Are you planning to make something like this?
