Thread:
Hi Stewart.
Essentially, the www.vr-map.com project is a labour of love....Im giving
something back to the VR community.
I guess its hard to believe that there are some people to whom money &
profit isnt everything, but we do exist.
Helmut Dersch is a prime example.
Im HOPING that Ill be able to generate advertising revenue on the pages in
the future...thats all.
Check out the site and youll see this....Ive had basic advertising prices in
place for 2 months now.
Its unlikely that any revenues generated will ever equal the time and effort
that has gone into the site though.
(One graphics job has emerged however, as an Australian woman, on seeing the
site, has contacted me regarding restoration of a couple of 1920s panoramas
of Sydney.)
I did initially set up a 3D content creation business/website 3 years ago,
with the aim of making some money, (see www.virtualmapping.com ) but as the
technology has now become so readily available to anyone with a cheap
digital camera and share/freeware stitching tools, Ive realised that there
is really not much of an income to be made out of this. So I hav'nt updated
www.virtualmapping.com in over a year now.
www.vr-map.com is my new project for a one-stop directory for panoramas,
where YOU guys can generate work for YOURSELVES in your part of the world.
Hopefully, Ill be able to generate a bit of work in my part of the world as
well....but if I dont, I dont really mind.
www.vrdirectory.com is a similar information project I produced for public
access. This has been up for 18 months now, and once again, Ive made nothing
out of advertising revenue.
Hope this stays your concerns.
PS: thanks to everyone who pointed out my spelling error.
REPOSITORY.....not suppository!!!!
I was very tired when I wrote this.
Do I win the award for the typo/spelling error of the month?
Regards
Craig Dunning
