Subject:Poles and the TSA.

Thread:

Hello Group

I just ordered the Cavision boom pole SCPN525R from B & H Photo. I
chose this model because it collapses down to .65m which will fit
nicely into my suitcase. The problem is they sent the SCPN535R which
collapses to .75m which leaves about 4" sticking out of the suitcase.
Even with all sections separated.

I borrowed a travel case that comes with the TrekPod from a friend and
it fits nicely in it. (and he said I could use it on my upcoming trip
to Hawaii where I plan on making many pano's using the pole.

My question is this, after my long winded explanation, has any one had
any experience carrying a pole, boom or such that looks like a
nightstick ( which is prohibited BTW) on an airline in the US.

I emailed this question to the TSA a few (4) times over the past 10
days to no avail.

Thanks

Jim
