OK, I'm of course not trying to derail your efforts, and the first
steps must be to see whether it not only works fast but works well, and
the PS3 solution will tell you that.
I ask my questions because I already have a computer, and personally I
would sacrifice a little speed for the convenience of not having to
learn a new OS, software, and hardware, but I just have no idea
how 'little' the difference is. So I'm not knocking the PS3 idea
really, just trying to understand what the issues are associated with
using better code on the regular CPUs of the computers we already
have. For example, I'd rather give you $300 for better software than
to Sony for hardware if it were only a few minutes of difference.
Cheers,
Matt
