Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. You asked:

I hope I didn't much more than answer this. Sorry again if I offended 
you.

I usually don't care much about this, it's a very common mistake 
people make, because they are not informed about the (usually hidden) 
Reference: and In-reply-to: header fields which link a message to a 
previous one in a thread. This is how a threaded viewer creates the 
thread tree.

Anyone who doesn't use threaded view does not even see this. But 
someone who does won't see your message if he choose to ignore the 
thread and someone who set it to watched is disappointed beause it's 
not the topic he is interested in. So it should be in anyones own 
interest not to use Reply to start a new thread.

I choose to answer publicly because this should be of public 
interest.
