I remember seeing a message here last week (or there abouts') asking in
anyone had used PhotoShop to do stitching. I just created around a dozen
panos in CS3 - simple 5 or 6 shot stitches - and the results were amazing.
One was a ski photo shot on top of a hill. People were moving around and
all my pano stitching tools handled the people fine - but the shadows were
horrible. Even my standby - PTGui - trashed the shadows. PhotoShop -
frankly I was amazed. The shadows were PERFECT, as were the people. The
workflow was not what Adobe recommended, but rather a multi-step process
that was fast and easy. Fisheyes? Forget it. Prime lens shots? Great. So
if you have CS3 it's another tool to consider in your collection!
If anyone is interested, I'll post the workflow and sample of the default
output from PhotoShop vs PTGui on my site. I love PTGui - I'm not dissin'
it! This just seems like one place where PhotoShop (of all things!) does a
better job.
