Subject:using a monopod

Thread:

Hello,
I have been using a Manfrotto 282B monopod with my 5D and Tokina 10-15 unshaved, six around two down and one up. This has worked very well except I am now thinking I should shave the Tokina which would (I think) no longer require the upshot and maybe only require 4 shots around. My Manfrotto has folding legs which are convenient.
However, Woot.com is offering the Velbron carbon fiber monopod for $55 shipped today only. The Vebron advantages are that it weighs about half of the Manfrotto (1.3 pounds -600 grams compared to the Manfrotto 2.5 pounds 1.15 kg) and is much more compact when folded (18" vs 27"; 48cm vs 69cm). Much better for travel.
I guess my question is has anyone had any experience with this tripod and how difficult is it to keep the camera level when shooting with this type of monopod.
Will
