http://www.murphlab.com/2011/03/21/new-website-and-blog-hizzah-2/ these are interesting I think. He is an artist who uses CHDK and a Canon compact and a telescope rotator to shoot rotating time lapse movies -- but then he arranges the footage in 10 degree slices each offset in time from its neighbours -- to compose a complete 360 view on the screen in 36 slices. So potentially you get the high resolution of a single view across a very wide format. Surprisingly the motion still looks natural split up like that.
