PanoTools Meeting 2008

|

Although it may seem a bit early I would like to formally announce the 2008 Panotools meeting which will be held August 4 - 7 in Prague, Czech Republic.

The meeting itself will have the usual 3-day format with a possible extra day on the end if necessary.

I have already received word that Professor Helmut Dersch may possibly attend the meeting. In addition the VR world's favorite lens hacker, the esteemed Michel Thoby, may also possibly join us.

The Film and Photography University aka FAMU - www.FAMU.cz has been kind enough to let us use their top-notch facilities for the week. You can see more of that here: http://www.prague360.com/index.html?layer=2&loc=locations/famu.p36

Whoever is interested in attending the meeting should join the panotools meeting yahoo group:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/panotools-meeting/ and go to http://www.panotools-meeting.com.

In addition to the 3 - 4 days of meetings / talks / lectures / workshops / demonstrations / fountain of knowledge :-) there will certainly be some kind of excursion, possibly to Kutna Hora (bone church / silver mine / medieval town) or some other place. Even Cesky Krumlov is possible although it is quite far from prague.

IMPORTANT: Prague is POPULAR! Besides having the famous "cheap beer" etc. etc. It is really getting busier and busier (and less cheap). RESERVE A ROOM NOW! If we want to have some hotel / hostel that is housing many attendees, this process must start immediately. Of course there could be rooms still available if you start looking in the middle of July, but don't bet on it. And there is a huge difference between staying in the center of town and staying 1/2 hour away by bus! So, the more people I know are coming, the better chance I have to reserve a large chunk of rooms somewhere. If you're not interested in staying in the same place as the others, then just go ahead and get a room as soon as possible. As public transportation within the city is second-to-none, you don't need to rent a car, and anything within ~2km of the school (which is here: http://tinyurl.com/ynly5x ) should be fine.
