PanoTools NG: 5D Mk III and image size terak1us 2012-Sep-07 21:44:56
I am planning to get a Canon 5D Mk III before the end of the year and have been wondering how MkII and MkIII owners deal with the over abundance of pixels. For a 12mm fisheye pano I stitch to an 8000x4000 equirect and my guess is that given the resolution of the 12mm fisheye, it does not make much sense to go much higher than 9000x4500, regardless of the pixelcount of the sensor. For panos shot at 17mm fisheye, the equirect will be bigger, but I assume still downsized from what the MkIII can deliver. Would I reduce image size during RAW conversion and is there a "rule of thumb" for the amount of (minimal) sharpening in ACR to deal just with the built in demosaicing filter and the image size reduction?
Main reason for upgrading from 5D to MkIII for me is less high ISO noise and faster shutter burst.
