PanoTools NG: Pocket PC phone panos wardnet2001 2007-Aug-14 10:52:43
Hi

Here is a link to a 6 pano, hotspot linked tour for Immervision's
Pocket PC java applet, about half MB total.
http://www.billward.org/Wemyss_small.zip
It plays fine on my T-Mobile MDA Vario phone (200mz processor).

You first have to install on the phone Immervision's
PUREPlayerForPocketPC.cab. This makes the individual .ivp files become
standalone, fullscreen (for the phone) panos. Then copy the unzipped
files to the phone (or Pocket PC). These ones have been authored with
hotspots which link to each other, so you have a tour. They are
smallish files so the quality is lower than it has to be, even for my
own phone.

I dont know if I am allowed by Immervision's license to distribute
PUREPlayerForPocketPC.cab, this needs to be cleared up, I have emailed
and posted there but no response. I hope this is possible, its about
400KB. (It is part of the PureTools suite you have to buy)

Next step is to try Prof Helmet Dersch's phone solution. Anybody tried
this yet? I have had a little difficulty finding where/which version
of Java I need to install on my phone/other phones.

I'm not sure if this is a little geeky for the normal phone user, but
there are a lot of phones in the world. I'm thinking of making a
webpage for phone surfers, to arrive at and download panos, just
simple text links - anyone aware of the issues here? Also is it
possible to have a user send a text message from their phone to
download a pano somehow? (Hotels, property, clubs, reseraunts, etc...?)

Bill
