Here is a different approach to generating High Dynamic Range
images, along with some software (free for non-commercial use):

    http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~debevec/Research/HDR/
    http://fiatlux.berkeley.edu/mkhdr/

This technique seems well suited for use with digital cameras
with manual exposure control (and a remote shutter release, to
prevent movement between exposures) and/or automatic exposure
bracketing.

On an unrelated note, is there any API documentation for the
newly released shared library (i.e. libpano12.so)?

Thanks,
