I had the same problem due to an old version of PANO12.DLL in my
WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory.

Anyone tried this with fisheye images yet?

Yes, works great.

Sounds like the Java VM is running out of memory.

Use Sun JRE/JDK 1.3 if you're not already.

You could also try  increasing the memory allocation.
