Neil,

As you mentioned, both the v1.8b1 plugin and v2.1 PanoTools problems
stem from mixing different versions of glibc. It appears they were
compiled on an older Linux distribution. The solution to the plugin
problem is to grab its source and recompile it on your Linux box.
If you have problems compiling, let me know and I can send you a little
patch to make things easy. The recompiled plugin can work under both
GIMP 1.0.x as well as 1.1.x.

The temporary solution to the V2.1 problem may be to run it on an older
glibc based distribution (forcing libpano12.so to point to older
compatibility libraries did not work for me, under a heavily modified
RedHat 6.1).

If/when the V2.1 source is released (there are licensing issues), I
believe all it would take is to recompile it on your box.

In the interim, if Helmut would be so kind to at least release the
newer Linux binaries, that would be excellent. Mac and Windows users have
many choices for stitching software, but for Linux users, PanoTools
is the only game in town.

Best regards,

-- Paul
