PanoTools NG: Help using hugin! leonard_evens 2007-Aug-16 23:11:20
I've uploaded three files: evensl.jpg, evensr.jpg, and evens.pto.

The first was constructed by taking a symmetrically placed rectangle,
using hugin to turn it just under 20 degrees to the left and then
truncating on the right. The angle of view is just about 68 degrees.
The second was done the same way with left and right reversed.
(Actually, it is just a horizontal flip of the other.) The third is a
project file showing control points for merging the two images.

I am using hugin 0.61 under Fedora Core 6 Linux. I am stitiching a
rectilinear image allowing the stitcher to calculate the angle of view
and the optimal size. No matter what I try, the best I get is a
version of the image skewed way to one side. For example, I can do
that by choosing to optimize just yaw for both images. I then get
different yaw angles (e.g., 34.8 and 74.8) which are 40 degrees apart.
The correct yaw angles should be -20 and + 20 degrees.

I can correct that by choosing center in the viewer, but what is
saved is the skewed image. If I rerun the stitcher, the yaw angles
are changed to the correct values, and I reconstruct the original
rectangle.

Can anyone explain to me what is going on?

P.S. I uploaded files for a previous question which I put in a folder
called Evens_problem. I removed my files from that folder, but I
can't remove two files posted by others in response, so I can't remove
the folder. Could the moderator do that?
