Matthais,

I used Frank’s calculator but I wasn’t sure how to apply the 1.5 sensor
factor to the 60mm lens. I assumed that I would input 90mm in the focal
length. I also tried the calculator on the Kekus site on the Mac and got the
same result. That is how I got 52 horizontal images. Also, I don’t
understand the “coverage” box in Frank’s calculator that is 100% by default.

Do you take the same number of images per row even though the overlap
increases as you move away from the horizontal?

Thanks for your assistance.

Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Mostly I use Frank van der Pol's FOV calculator for such calculations, see
 <http://www.frankvanderpol.nl/fov_pan_calc.htm>
http://www.frankvanderpol.nl/fov_pan_calc.htm

Don't forget to fill in the correct sensor size dimensions for the D200,
which are 23.6 x 15.8 mm. Then fill in the focal length (60mm).

This will give you around 32 (31.8) images in portrait mode for the full
360°. And around 22 (21.3) in horizontal mode which means 22/2 = 11 rows for
the 180° up to down. I assume 10 rows will do also fine. This is with 25%
overlap. So you end up with 32 images per row and 10 rows (20° increments).

This gives you with the D200 full quality (3872 x 2592 px) a resulting image
of around 2592x0.75x32 = 62208 pixels theoretically (= (smaller image side)
x (100 - % overlap) x (nmb of images) ).

Best regards from Switzerland,

Matthias
