PanoTools: Developers: Pan Controls for 16 Bit? Erik Krause 2004-Sep-12 16:04:43
Hello Developers,

since PTEditor doesn't work with 16 bit images there is only PTAdjust
plugin to edit Panoramas in 16 bit Mode. This is relatively easy if
only zenith or nadir must be patched but pretty inconvenient if any
other region of a equirectangular panorama should be edited in a
rectlinear view.

There is still the possibility to use PTStitcher to create 6 cube
faces (f.e. with my cubefaces batch file), but if you have details at
the joint of two faces it is pretty hard to edit them.

In version 2.1 of the panotools there was an additional photoshop
filter called PanCntrl.8bf included that implemented a kind of
interactive panorama editor in photoshop, where you could pan to the
desired view, edit the view in place and save it back into the
panorama.

I found this filter on an older mirror of the panotools page at
http://home.no.net/dmaurer/~dersch/PanoTools.zip
Unfortunately I didn't get it to work, neither on CS nor on photoshop
6 or 5.5.

Helmut wrote that this filter was only a front end to the 'adjust'
tool, so it should be relatively easy to implememt it for recent
photoshop versions...

What do you think about it. Or would it be easier to upgrade PTEditor
to 16 Bit?

best regards
