It is a serious matter to blacken the name of a merchant, so I won't go
that far. But I will never ever buy enything again from Kiev Camera. I
don't recall ever dealing with Rugift.com.

There is a fully documented horror story on the Internet concerning
transactions with Kiev Camera and it squares with my own limited (and
fortunately not very costly) experience.

I bought my Peleng from a seller who is no longer on E-bay, and it came
new, in a sealed box. This was clearly promised in the description and was
correct. The description promised a specific lens number, which was NOT
right, and when I complained the guy said "sorry, I picked the wrong box
off the shelf. They're ALL new so no problem, right?" Right! By the way,
the serial numbers of Pelengs do NOT follow the old Soviet precedent of
using the first two digits to identify the year in which they were made.

The Pelengs leave the factory EITHER with an M42 mount OR a Nikon Ai
mount. Anything else seems to involve the M42 mount PLUS AN ADAPTOR. Be
warned. It is also possible to attach a Nikon adaptor to the M42 version,
but this is not always a good combination. Get the one that came from the
factory intended for Nikon users. Kiev Camera will supply you an M42
+ Nikon adaptor and tell you that's just the way they are. It ain't
necessarily so.
