I think that the best available option would be to use Ian Wood's pano2movie program. I have never tried it out myself, so I don't know what it can or can't... but from what I have read, it is good at doing what it should.
Can it output to .avi ... I don't know... nor do I think it can... but I am sure that the video format it creates, can be converted into .avi files.

Your client wants a video of the panorama tours? If that is the case, does your client understand that the panoramas will not be possible to interact with, they would only run as videos?
