Re: with or without Fisheye?

Hi Ruwan
I just got The Nikon Fisheye Converter FC-E9 and a new Coolpix 8400.
I must admit, I am very pleased with the camera and perhaps like
yourself, grew tired of stitching vast amounts of images to together
to get a full 36o. I once stitched 80 images together !!!
The FC-E9 is a beast in size and weight and even longer with the
adapter I had to get also. The total weight with camera is 2.20lbs
(980g) but it was more in my price range. I take 3 shots at 120* and
stitch them in PTgui 5. No problems and very little touch ups in
photoshop. On the other hand, the quality is no where near the
quality in the demo that Willy added below.
Sure the full 360 is there and it looks excellent and sharp in a
viewer at 426 X 344 and 2000 x 1000 JPG image size at 80% quality
(260kb) but I also just did a viewer at 626 X 544 to compare it and
had to bump the JPG image up to 4000 X 2000 at 80% quality but
sharpened (850kb) and that's the biggest I would go viewer wise
without the image looking crap. Those full screen QT movies are
beautiful but there not going to happen with the FC-E9 :-(
Once I make some decent money out of the 360's I'd go straight for
the Nikon D50/70 with a Sigma 8mm setup but you have to start
somewhere and my FC-E9 on a Coolpix 8400 is perfect at the moment.
So there you have it (from my point of view)
All the best
Andrew
