Helmut,
I had a rather different user experience than Caroling reported:
On Win98, IE5, a lot of loading going on but no objects appeared in front of
the pano when it was done, until I hit refresh. Then, everything loaded
almost immediately from the cache and worked fine.
On Win98, Nav 4.72, loaded and worked fine, including transparency.
I especially like how you coordinate the object movie with the orientation
of the pano in the viewer.
Looks like you are using transparent gifs in this demo. I wonder if a Flash
movie could be wired into your API, as Flash objects can be self masking,
can't they? (not sure about that). There are programs out which convert 3D
models to Flash vector renders. (www.swift3D.com)
Some of the Metastream competitors, like cult3D and hypercosm, should be
apprised of PTObject. It would be quite impressive to have a manipulatable
3D object with a PTViewer background moving in coordination. (Metastream has
thrown in with Ipix for that effect.)
By the way, what the heck is that thing in the object movie? Looks like a
joystick for people who need to build up calluses really fast.
Thanks again for both the innovation and the responsiveness to user
feedback.
