btw .. you can make very good quality nonstereo high resolution
spherical panoramas totally automatically with a strip approach
eg. shoot 120 level shots with a 180 degree fisheye absolutely
accurately at 3 degree increments --- not with the camera in
continuous motion -- just move from click to click of the panorama
head -- most standard pano heads would not be accurate enough to do
this perfectly (but think gears with lots of teeth and click stop
arrangements)
convert each shot to equirectangular
extract a strip corresponding to 3 degrees of scene from middle of
each converted equi
(if it was a 180 fisheye it would be 1/60 of the width of the image --
arrange the
image width so that each strip is an exact number of pixels)
each strip doesnt have to come from the middle of the view actually --
to the left or
right of centre will do as long as you are consistent with the
position in the equi image from shot to shot
concatenate the strip images to make a regular 360 equi
