It's not a question (for most) of whether it'll improve a bad story, or bad
direction - I think that's a strawman. It's a question of both bringing
costs down, which increases accessibility for the medium (which brings lots
of crap with it, but also those diamonds in the rough who never would have
been able to play before), as well as providing new tools for the arsenal -
having a 35mm sized sensor is a revelation for a lot of video shooters - as
is access to the quality, but much cheaper, commodity lenses and
accessories. It's a net win for everyone.

No, it won't make a bad idea better, but it may make a great idea cheaper.
Just like with any instance where technology brings costs down in an
existing industry.
