Roger, This is not true.  You can place the first point of a pair on 
either image.  Exactly what happens is dependent on the setting of 
the Jump and Auto buttons.  Only if the Auto button is set will PTGui 
create points automatically. The pattern matching will get better as 
you add more points, but you should always check the accuracy of auto 
placed points and move them when necessary. It helps if you assign 
the images approximage initial yaw values.
