maybe I have not tried hard enough with the -composite operator but I did not get to a usable result so far.

I do not know Photomatix. I have not had time to try it. It seems to me that it is a manual tool for the workstation, like Photoshop, geared at the professional working at the workstation. I am trying to move away from the workstation to a server that does everything automatically. Even if it is not as perfect as a professional would make it, it's the 80-20 rule: with 20% of the effort you reach 80% of the result.

Thank you for this "info-mercial". I will play with the trial version to see if its functions can help me, and will buy a license if they do. Freeware is nice, though my quest is not about money, it's about time and flexibility. Command line tools are scriptable. And I run them in a Unix environment so that with a little bit of glue they can all interact w/o manual intervention. I saw the SDK on your download page, but is it only for Windows (dll) ?
