PanoTools:
VR Crime Scenes

Hi,
A friend recently recommended I offer services to local police agencies so
that they can review crime scenes remotely after they've left the scene. I
wasn't too sure that there would be much interest and didn't pursue it.
This morning I received a free newspaper in the post called "Policing Essex"
and in there was a report of a jury being shown a "virtual tour" of a crime
scene in a murder case. The Police in question used a system called "R2S
Crime" which is based on the system manufactured by Spheron VR in Germany:
http://www.spheron.com/spheron/public/en/home/home.php
The web site for the new system can be seen here:
http://www.maximt.co.uk/index.asp?id=3
<http://www.maximt.co.uk/index.asp?id=3&refID=10&refID2=11&co...>
&refID=10&refID2=11&contentID=11
Has anyone here produced similar work using more conventional methods i.e.
SLR & PTools?
I imagine the system is very expensive and that not many local forces will
want to purchase one but if awareness in the possibilities of 360VR's have
been raised then perhaps a few list members could benefit from approaching
their local police force?
It would possibly be a bit more interesting than photographing yet another
hotel/museum/church :-)
Brian.
