Would it be possible to work internally with no limitation of a color
space, such as the HDR tools do it by using floating point values to
represent color and light intensities? Additionally, the program could
output several images, with different settings. Sometimes it seems not
to be possible to find a good anchor images. In my tests the
adjustment really often resulted in an image that looked like a GIF
with a small number of colors.

Also, could the anchor image or let's call it 'anchor adjustments' be
determined automatically by calculating which settings would result in
the least amount of information? I don't know how they do it and I'm
not a fan of their software, but the realviz stitcher adjustment works
quite well. So there must be a better solution.

Using different outputs with different settings could also be used to
blend them afterwards with your technique. It might even be possible
to use image information that exists more than once (due to overlap or
due to several images with different exposures) automatically to
calculate a HDR image directly. The huge problem with this is moving
objects of course.

Just a bunch of ideas, maybe someone picks some of them up...

Valeriy, why do you do the levels adjustment before vignetting? I
don't know if the other way round would be any good, but is there a
specific reason for this order?

I haven't tried you technique yet, but does it work well with 360°
panoramas? I had some problems with PanoTools adjustments when it
comes to 360°. By the way, is it normal, that PanoTools can't adjust
360° images, or did I do something wrong? Opposite of the anchor
image, there is always a huge difference between the images coming
from the left and right.

Stefan
