The one good thing I can credit Carter with is eliminating the "disturbed"
signal.

As for non dedicated units, ie PDA, they usually are based on stripped down
GPS receivers.  They can't lock on as many satellites, are not as accurate,
don't display signal strength or satellite information, accuracy, or convert
your position to lat/lon (needed for mapmaking and charting.)
