I splashed out on the Nikon 10.5mm to use with my D70 and it has been
absolutely great. But this July I'll be shooting panos at a dance
music festival...
If it is okay for such a newbie on the list to ask, I'd like some advice.

I'm wondering seriously whether I should get the Sigma 8mm and shoot
4 shots around and the zenoth and nadir shots.

I use a 360 Precision head, and at the moment I usually shoot 8
around with the 10.5mm lens. The click-stop ring has 6 stops on its
flipside, but I've stuck with the 8-stop side as it gives so much
overlap for masking out! I'm told that the 360 Precision head
elements I have will suit the Sigma 8mm too, so that's not an issue.

I'll be dealing with crowds and performers who will be going crazy -
and I mean rave-style crazy! So I need to (a) reduce the number of
shots required and (b) still have generous overlap for cleaning up
afterwards. Oh, and shoot lots of spares, I know. When I'm in the
dance tents I'll probably be shooting with a fairly wide aperture due
to the light conditions, but I'll find out just how dark it is when
the time comes.

So - would the Sigma 8mm give a decent amount of overlap with 4 shots
around? Is it good at fairly wide apertures? In practical terms, is
there all that much difference between it and the 10.5mm lens? Erm -
any advice?

k
