Sharpening is the kind of thing that should be applied at the last
stage in any production process. First of all, it is a destructive
process, so - like JPEG - shouldn't be used until the end. Second,
the simple act of stitching, with the warping and merging that it
involves, can soften an image, leaving it in need of a little (more)
sharpening. We're talking small degrees here, of course, but John's
right to put the sharpening process at the very end of his VR
production workflow.
