> but I wonder why you didn't shoot one shot straight down.

He tipped me down a few times to shoot a nadir, but maybe I
started leaning back in out of fear for my life or something, because I
still ended up with quite a bit of landing skid in the picture. I would
like to try a pole or monopod under the skids next time.

>Also I wonder why you didn't take the time to direct the pilot over a
vertical edge pointing to you as I suggested...

The pilot doesn't appear to place much value in suggestions from mere
mortals.

The client asked this time to be over the government center
building. Once nearby the pilot points down a couple of blocks away and
says "Here, above the armory" and takes us there.

While drifting over it (more like around it!) I said "We're
almost right over that big circular parking ramp - I can see down it -
can you circle over that?!" But then he'd swing real wide around it and
finish the turn a block away and ask if we were finished yet.

He originally offered to take his door off if we had to reshoot,
so he could better look down and see what I was seeing, but instead his
was the only door left on. Just before we took off the client asks him
if he's going to take his door off like he said he would, and the pilot
says "I don't think that's necessary. It'll be too windy and make it
hard to communicate."

If things eventually go right I'll probably have several more of
these to do, and I can't always guarantee I'll have an exceptionally
skilled pilot and/or windless days. So now I want to try a monopod or
my 12' light pole. I may even go back to the airport and measure the
distance to the skids, even try to get them to take the doors off so I
can get strapped in and get the feel for extending that pole out and
down without breaking anything. They'll probably charge me the $500 an
hour just to sit in the helicopter and PRETEND I'm flying. :)

Ed

or anybody I knew. :)
